The Rooftop Room of My Heart
Reading this novel in 2019, I couldn’t help feeling that many of its premises and plot developments were contrived. What real benefit was there in the choices and actions the characters made? But once I learned it was a work from 1998, it made a bit more sense. In just 20 years, the world has changed this much. So much so that it’s hard to understand why people lived the way they did back then.
One more thing: in many ways, it gave me a feeling similar to Jung Dae-gun’s “Mate.”
