Refactoring, 1st Edition

In effect, this is a self-improvement book for programmers. Believe in your own development skills! Have confidence! Your effort will be rewarded! I myself support and live by this kind of mentality, but from the standpoint of the developers I work with, it doesn’t always seem to be a good thing. Today, once again, I heard someone ask whether that refactoring was really necessary. I’m not sure either. Is this refactoring really necessary?
