A Time to Write the Constitution
First, I have an embarrassing confession to make. This year was the first time I ever started studying the constitution. And I deeply regretted not having done so sooner. Why hadn’t I taken an interest in the constitution earlier? Many of the thoughts I had entertained while studying the so-called humanities, especially my reflections on the absurdities of reality, found the constitution standing right at their very forefront. The constitution is discourse on what ought to be and what actually is; it is fundamental rights; it is history and struggle itself. And I began to harbor this hope: perhaps even a minimal interest in the constitution could heal many of society’s problems. In any case, we live in a world that is being eroded by an ignorance of shame. I recommend that everyone give this book a read.
