The Visitor - Roald Dahl
The protagonist of this novel is a thoroughly repulsive human being. He’s a criminal, a braggart, a misogynist, and a lecher—in a word, the dregs of humanity. But as luck would have it, he happens to be fairly rich, so he goes around getting into all sorts of debauched adventures. As the story unfolds, you can’t help but grow more and more eager to see how this guy will end up wrecking his life. In the end, it wasn’t all that satisfying. But it does, in its own way, seem to amount to a kind of comeuppance. To all you readers of this novel: let us all live in accordance with what is right.
