In Search of Lost Wildness
I came across the concept of the “presence of absence” for the first time. Everything that once existed but no longer does still affects the present through the void it leaves behind. And this applies not only to nature, but to our minds as well. Let me give an example. In a world without predators, humans often forget about life itself, even though the fact that we live and breathe is by no means something to take for granted. And gradually we sink ever deeper into our own inner world. But without external stimulation, how can we ever obtain what we want? This is why humans must once again seek out the wild, the time when humans were part of nature.
